Responsibilities

  • Provide chairside assistance during a wide range of dental procedures including prosthodontics, endodontics, pediatric dentistry, and general dentistry treatments.
  • Operate and interpret X-ray and 3D scanner imaging to support accurate diagnosis and treatment planning.
  • Manage electronic medical records (EMR systems) Dentrix Ascend to ensure precise documentation of patient information, medical history, and treatment notes.
  • Assist with patient intake by taking vital signs, medical history updates, and explaining procedures clearly to ensure patient comfort.
  • Maintain strict infection control protocols using aseptic techniques to prevent cross-contamination and ensure a sterile environment.
  • Support the dental receptionist with appointment scheduling, patient communication, and insurance processing while maintaining HIPAA compliance.
  • Collaborate with dentists on four-handed dentistry techniques to optimize workflow efficiency during procedures.
  • Utilize knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical coding to accurately document treatments and facilitate billing processes.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Dental Assistant with a strong background in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry settings.
  • Proficiency in EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic for managing medical records and documentation.
  • Certification in X-ray technology and knowledge of medical imaging techniques required for diagnostic purposes.
  • Familiarity with infection control standards, aseptic techniques, and sterilization procedures within a dental clinic environment.
  • Ability to perform vital signs assessment and assist with complex procedures involving prosthodontics or endodontics.
  • Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices.
  • Excellent communication skills to coordinate with team members including dental receptionists and other clinical staff.
  • Knowledge of pediatric dentistry principles is highly desirable to provide compassionate care for young patients.
