It is a first-of-a-kind fusion fuel-cycle demonstration facility being developed at Chalk River Laboratories in Ontario, with commissioning starting in 2026. The facility will validate the systems required to supply and manage deuterium-tritium fuel for future fusion power plants. UNITY-2 is one of the world’s most advanced non-power fusion infrastructure projects and will serve as a global testbed required for preparing for pilot plants and commercial deployment.</p>
