Our client is a major player in the logistics and transportation sector and is seeking an experienced Logistics and Fleet Operations Manager to oversee operations in San Jose, California, US . This role is pivotal in ensuring the efficient, safe, and cost-effective management of our diverse fleet and complex delivery networks. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in transportation management, fleet maintenance, regulatory compliance, and optimizing logistics operations. You will be responsible for leading a team of dispatchers, drivers, and mechanics, as well as managing relationships with external carriers and service providers.

Key responsibilities include:
Managing daily fleet operations, including scheduling, routing, and dispatching of vehicles to ensure timely and efficient deliveries. Overseeing the maintenance and repair program for the company's fleet, ensuring vehicles are safe, compliant, and well-maintained. Ensuring compliance with all federal, state, and local transportation regulations (e.g., DOT, FMCSA). Developing and implementing strategies to reduce operational costs, including fuel efficiency, maintenance expenses, and labor utilization. Monitoring fleet performance metrics and identifying areas for improvement. Managing driver recruitment, training, and performance, fostering a safety-first culture. Negotiating contracts with third-party logistics providers, maintenance vendors, and equipment suppliers. Implementing and utilizing transportation management systems (TMS) and fleet management software. Responding to and resolving operational issues, emergencies, and customer inquiries related to deliveries and fleet status. Collaborating with sales, customer service, and warehouse operations to ensure seamless coordination of logistics activities. Analyzing transportation data to identify trends, optimize routes, and improve overall efficiency. Developing and managing the departmental budget.
The ideal candidate will possess a Bachelor's degree in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field. A minimum of 6 years of experience in transportation, logistics, or fleet management is required, with at least 3 years in a supervisory or managerial role. Proven experience managing a large fleet and a deep understanding of DOT regulations are essential. Strong leadership, communication, problem-solving, and analytical skills are paramount. Experience with fleet maintenance programs and TMS software is a must.
