Medical Scheduler

JOB TITLE: MEDICAL SCHEDULER

REPORTS TO: BUSINESS OFFICE MANAGER

TYPE STATUS: FULL TIME

JOB SUMMARY / OVERVIEW:

  • To assist patients in scheduling medical appointments.

PRIMARY DUTIES:

  • Answers the phone in a pleasant and courteous manner
  • Schedules medical appointments
  • Handles patient reminder phone calls
  • Responds knowledgeably to inquires from patients, medical staff, and other staff
  • Ensure messages are handled in a precise manner
  • Accept payment on patient accounts over the phone
  • Verify and update demographic information for patients
  • Maintains strict and total personnel and patient confidentiality
  • Verify and balance all payment each day
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION / QUALIFICATIONS:

  • High school diploma or GED.

EXPERIENCE / KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS:

  • Experience in the health care field is preferred.
  • Demonstrate initiative and function independently.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Ability to receive, interpret and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Ability to effectively present information to others.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English.
  • Must possess excellent communication skills.
  • Must possess knowledge of general office procedures.
  • Must have proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows applications.
  • Demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills by dealing effectively, in a positive and professional manner, with a variety of people by telephone and in person.
  • Must have analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Must have strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Ability to speak or understand Spanish is helpful.
