The fellow should have demonstrated expertise in policy activism, community-based research, or research in areas such as civil rights, voting rights, health care justice, criminal justice environmental justice, educational justice, or other interventions. Our preference is for an early-career scholar who has both a strong research background and demonstrated record of "community engaged scholarship" or scholar activism that bridges the campus-community divide. We are seeking a scholar who received their doctorate after December 31, 2022 or who is late ABD stage. The fellowship provides up to 24 months of support. This fellowship is part of a new initiative hosted by the John Lewis Center for Social Justice called the Highest Calling Social Justice Initiative. <br><br><b>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</b> <br><br>The award requires the fellow to reside in Middle Tennessee throughout the duration of the fellowship. The Fellow will produce the following output:<br> a) Up to three course offerings over the course of the two-year fellowship;<br> b) One community engagement activation, e.g., public workshop, exhibition, action-based research project, etc.;<br> c) One public lecture through the John Lewis Center for Social Justice;<br> d) Narrate their Fisk experience across audiences, e.g., social media, press, etc.;<br> e) Provide an overview of activities in support of a comprehensive annual report for the Center. <br><br><b>SPECIFIC JOB KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:</b> <br><br>We are seeking a scholar with a research background in history or social sciences. <br><br><b>ORGANIZATIONAL RESPONSIBILITY:</b> <br><br>No Report <br><br><strong>Qualifications</strong> <br><br><b>QUALIFICATIONS:</b> <br><br><b>Education:</b> We are seeking a scholar who received their doctorate after December 31, 2022, or who is late stage ABD. <br><br><b>Additional Requirements: </b>A background and/or credit check will be required of the successful applicant.
