Summary:

Responsible for coordinating origination, processing, closing, servicing, reporting, and liquidation of SBA loans.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Coordinate closings for conventional commercial and SBA loans;
  • Ensure compliance with all Bank regulations, policies, procedures, and SBA SOP;
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of SBA SOP, required forms, and application documents;
  • Maintain SBA best practices for Loan Officers participating in the SBA program;
  • Assist customers with internal conventional commercial and SBA loan applications, and prepare and submit SBA applications via ETRAN;
  • Prepare and review SBA Authorization in coordination with Loan Officers for accuracy and SOP compliance and ensure terms and conditions correspond with approval;
  • Assist Loan Officers with gathering all documents;
  • Package and process all required documentation to complete SBA loan closings;
  • Complete required 1502 reporting;
  • Assist in the maintenance of SBA Preferred Leader Program (PLP) status;
  • Assist with SBA loan liquidation efforts;
  • Assist with updating SouthStar Bank SBA lending policy;
  • Order, review, and analyze collateral and entity related documents and highlight all exceptions to be cleared prior to closing;
  • Obtain and review third party inspections, environmental reports, title reports, surveys, flood certificates, insurance, building documents, sale contracts and other items required for underwriting and closing;
  • Order and assist in coordination and review of attorney prepared documents for adherence to loan policy and the terms and conditions outlined in the authorization and loan approval;
  • Maintain files and prepare for pre-funding review of loan documents and loan files to ensure documents are ready for execution and that all exception items have been resolved or appropriately waived;
  • Coordinate closings with title and request wires/checks for closings;
  • Review and submit complete loan package to the Loan Administration team for funding approval and booking;
  • Assist builders for application, approvals and required documentation for construction loans;
  • Monitor construction draws by maintaining spreadsheets on construction projects to ensure projects are within budget;
  • Collect all necessary draw documents, lien waivers, invoices and other supporting documents, and confirm advance amounts are funded correctly;
  • Review weekly past due and exception reports and collect required financial reports, insurance, property tax receipts, etc.;
  • Provide customer service to clients and respond to all customer inquiries regarding loan status, payments, etc.;
  • Assist Loan Officers with SBA modifications;
  • Other duties as assigned.
Other Duties:
  • Assist with post-closing servicing, customer requests, and other projects as assigned;
  • Verify adherence to loan policy and loan administration procedures in daily work;
  • Promote business for the Bank by helping to maintain good customer relations;
  • Help cross-selling and referrals to other departments of the Bank; and
  • Complete all assigned Bank compliance training.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent – some college preferred;
  • Two to five years minimum of SBA closing experience;
  • Working knowledge of computers, technology, servers, and core processing system;
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and knowledge of appropriate customer service;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with all levels of staff, management and customers;
  • Organized and detail oriented and ability to prioritize tasks;
  • Ability to maintain confidential information; and
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
