Research and Development Center (ERDC) is one of the premier engineering and scientific research organizations in the world. Statement Of Position Duties

  • Serves as Administrative Assistant for the Director of the Geotechnical and Structures Laboratory (GSL).
  • Communicates effectively with all management levels and external agencies.
  • Evaluates, recommends, and implements courses of action in overall organization administrative policies.
  • Manages administrative and clerical support assignments.
  • Maintains calendar of supervisor's activities such as conferences, meetings, or other functions.
  • Receives telephone calls and visitors, referring to staff members and forwarding to the supervisor as necessary.
  • Reviews all mail/correspondence for proper staffing, grammar, punctuation, typographical errors, enclosures, and otherwise to assure mail is ready for signature.
  • Makes necessary arrangements for conferences including space, time, contacting people, and other matters.
  • Prepares documentation utilizing Microsoft Office.
Other Conditions And Requirements Other Conditions and Requirements This is a Direct Hire Authority (DHA) solicitation utilizing one of the Science, Technology, and Research Laboratory (STRL) specific DHAs to recruit and appoint qualified candidates to positions in competitive service. Minimum Experience Requirement: One year of specialized experience which includes composing and reviewing complex correspondence and reports; making travel arrangements for other personnel; coordinating administrative processes and procedures; utilizing automatic software such as Microsoft Excel, Word, or PowerPoint. Proficiency Requirement: This position requires a qualified typist. A qualified typist can type 40 words per minute based on a 5-minute sample with three or four errors.
