The designer will develop electrical construction drawings for substations. They will mentor lower-level designers.<p><strong style="font-size:15px;">Primary Duties and Responsibilities</strong></p><ul><li>Work with the latest standards to create drawings for a given project.</li><li>Work with part naming and numbering conventions; and file naming and management protocols.</li><li>Use Vault and ProjectWise for project documentation to track all design modifications and new designs.</li><li>Handle complex projects with minimum supervision.</li><li>Coordinate with people from other departments who are involved in a design project</li><li>Mentor less experienced designers.</li><li>Check and validate drawings for the project and the drawings of peers and subordinates.</li><li>Will work under supervision of Professional Engineers.</li></ul><p><strong style="font-size:15px;">Protection and Control Focus</strong></p><ul><li>Create and modify single line diagrams, three-line diagrams, AC & DC schematics, wiring diagrams, cable schedules, or other equipment schematics such as MOABs, circuit breakers, CCVTs, and panel front views using AutoCAD, AutoCAD Electrical, and MicroStation.</li><li>Design protection schemes that deal with breaker controls, line relaying, bus relaying, and communication internal to the station as well as external to the station.</li></ul><p><strong style="font-size:15px;">Education and Experience Requirements</strong></p><ul><li>Four plus years of experience designing schematics, wiring diagrams, single line diagrams, and schematics.</li><li>Four plus years of electrical design experience using MicroStation and AutoCAD.</li><li>Demonstrable proficiency using AutoCAD Electrical..</li><li>Associate degree in applied science (AAS) in drafting and computer aided (CAD) design or in civil, electrical or mechanical engineering technology or equivalent experience and/or education.</li></ul><p><strong style="font-size:15px;">Requisite Abilities and Skills</strong></p><ul><li>Advanced ability to develop wiring diagrams and cable/conduit tables from schematics</li><li>Advanced knowledge with single line drawings, three-line drawings, fuse and circuit breaker coordination</li><li>Advanced understanding of design practices and engineering systems</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication</li><li>Demonstrate ability to work with others in supplying information and seeking assistance as necessary</li></ul><p><strong>Job Type & Location</strong><p>This is a Contract position based out of Chicago, IL.</p><strong>Pay and Benefits</strong><p>The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $45.00/hr.<p>Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
