About the Role
The Academy is seeking to appoint a Visiting Music Teacher – Brass. The successful candidate will deliver high-quality individual and small-group instrumental lessons, supporting students’ musical development, confidence, and enjoyment. The role will also contribute to the wider music provision of the Academy by preparing students for performances, assessments, and examinations where appropriate. The Visiting Music Teacher will be available to teach small group sessions on a Wednesday.
Key Responsibilities
Deliver engaging, structured, and differentiated music lessons to individual students and small groups.
Plan lessons that support students’ technical development, musical understanding, and personal expression.
Adapt teaching approaches to meet the needs, abilities, and aspirations of individual learners.
Encourage regular practice and provide constructive feedback to support progression.
About You
The ideal candidate will:
Proven experience teaching instrumental and/or vocal music to young people.
High level of skill and musicianship on the relevant instrument(s) or voice.
Ability to inspire, motivate, and engage students of varying abilities.
Terms and Conditions
· Lessons are offered on an individual basis and are typically 30 minutes in duration. The current fee, which is set by the Visiting Music Teacher has a recommended rate of £25.50 per lesson, payable by the parent/guardian directly to the VMT. The VMT is responsible for collecting their own payments.
· The post-holder will be self-employed and responsible for their own tax, National Insurance, and any other statutory obligations.
· The Academy cannot guarantee any minimum number of teaching hours. The number of lessons offered will depend entirely on pupil uptake and may vary from term to term.
· Where the post-holder has agreed to provide lessons, they are expected to deliver those lessons as scheduled, except where prevented by illness or other circumstances, in which case reasonable notice should be given to The Academy and the parent/guardian.
