Food Service Sales Representative

<p><strong>Our distribution center in Astoria, OR is looking to hire a Food Service Sales Rep!</strong> This position generates sales through telephone calls and in-person presentations to existing and new food service and retail customers. As a sales Representative, you will be out in the field most of the time working closely with chefs in the culinary community, owners and retail managers promoting seafood, meat, and other products.  Remote position with pay starting at $21.00 - $23.00 per hour plus commission. Primary territory would be Lincoln City and Newport area.</p> <p><strong>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:</strong></p> <ul> <li>Maintain existing customer base through all means of technology, phone, email, and text. <ul> <li>Get orders in at by the proper times, respecting cut-offs</li> <li>Maintain communication with customers based on what works best for them. After hours use text, VM or email. Build a call list by route and cutoff times.</li> <li>Develop a 15 account per month list of customers you will further penetrate with new items. Maintain these on the penetration list on the public drive.</li> <li>Share specials, pictures, fact sheets and marketing information with your customers via technology to remain an important resource for continuing education for them and their staff.</li> <li>Communicate cut-off times and other delivery options to never leave your customer short of product.</li> <li>Maintain a price list for every account. Products on list should contain all items related to the customers menu or set. Maintain Blue Cart products and prices.</li> <li>Enter orders on Net Yield</li> </ul> </li> <li>Always be sourcing new business. <ul> <li>Use the target sheets to compile list of accounts that you are trying to develop.</li> <li>Maintain a 5 customer per month target list studying menus and web sites, developing a tailored plan of attack for each. Maintain these on target list on the public drive.</li> <li>Target new business by “Best of” reviews, news paper ads, internet searches and community visits always scouting new business.</li> <li>Build interpersonal relationships with account buyers so they trust you have their best interest in mind. If that person takes a new job, they will look to you as a resource.</li> <li>Project a positive brand and culture of Ocean Beauty as a “must have” quality resource for seafood.</li> <li>Never “burn bridges” with a problem account. Taking the higher ground may win them back if the situation changes.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Study and cut everything you sell <ul> <li>Ask questions of your managers and buyers about new and existing products.</li> <li>Build a data base of pictures, POS material provided by the manufacturer and cutting data that can be shared with customers quickly helping you close your business efficiently.</li> <li>Save articles or internet searches on specific products you encounter.</li> <li>Try every sample provided to Ocean Beauty yourself so that you can make a convincing sales pitch to your customer.</li> </ul> </li> <li>Follows all company safety policies and procedures.</li> <li>Responds to change productively and handles other duties as required.</li> <li>Responsible for collecting, and or making arrangements to collect on monies owed by assigned customer base.</li> <li>Reports to the A/R Dept. “weekly” the collections, and activity status of assigned customer base.</li> <li>Enters new customers into NY by entering data on the portal page. Turns customers paper copy Credit Aps, Tax information ( ST-101 ) into A/R Dept. to be filed.</li> <li>Attends and engages in daily Sales & Purchasing meetings with any customer wants or needs, forecasted sales, and add planning’s that may pertain to daily and weekly sales and or purchases.</li> <li>Communicates to Ops Manager special customers spec’s so that the Processing Dept. can accommodate.</li> <li>Must be able to deliver or make arrangements to deliver any customers orders that do not make cut offs.</li> <li>Must make every effort to meet or exceed budgeted and forecasted sales goals.</li> <li>Must work well with others and be able to maintain a positive attitude to insure a dynamic “TEAM” environment.</li> <li>Supports TQM Team with issues and suggestions. Understands how TQM can improve all aspects of Ocean Beauty.</li> </ul> <ol></ol> <p><strong>QUALIFICATIONS</strong>:</p> <ul> <li>BA in Business Administration, Marketing or equivalent or equivalent experience.</li> <li>Minimum of three (3) years sales experience in food related industry required. Seafood experience helpful</li> <li>Possession of a valid Sate Driver’s license for travel to customers.</li> <li>An individual with strong negotiation and organizational skills, and excellent customer relations skills. </li> <li>Must have excellent oral, written, and interpersonal communications skills.</li> <li>Ability to persuade and influence others.</li> <li>Ability to create, compose, and edit written materials.
