Summary <p>As an Investment Sales Consultant, you will serve as a trusted coach and subject matter expert for Northwestern Mutual's financial advisors. Through one-on-one consultations, group trainings, and webinars, you'll help advisors navigate complex investment and financial planning scenarios, select the right product solutions, and confidently close for their clients. </p><p>Your expertise will span the full suite of NM investment products, including annuities, brokerage, advisory, and retirement planning solutions. You'll combine deep product knowledge with practical sales strategy to make a direct impact on advisor growth and client outcomes.</p><p>This is a highly visible role where you'll present to field leadership, collaborate across departments, and help shape how we support advisors going forward. </p> Primary Duties & Responsibilities <p><strong>Advisor Coaching & Consultation</strong></p><ul><li>Serve as a go-to investment product expert for financial advisors through inbound phone consultations, scheduled deep-dive sessions, webinars, and in-person meetings at Network Offices.</li><li>Consult on complex financial planning scenarios, guiding advisors through product selection, tax considerations, competitive positioning, and client-specific circumstances to reach the best solution.</li><li>Connect the dots between tax rules, product features, competitor positioning, and financial planning best practices to help advisors confidently guide their clients to the right solution. </li></ul><p><strong>Training & Presentation</strong></p><ul><li>Deliver impactful training on investment products, markets, sales concepts, and planning topics to advanced audiences, including field leadership and senior management.</li><li>Serve as a featured speaker at home office and Network Office events on planning, product strategy, and market trends.</li><li>Create training content that builds product awareness, advisor conviction, and practical sales skills.</li></ul><p><strong>Product Analysis & Guidance</strong></p><ul><li>Analyze prospect statements and competitors' products to provide clear, actionable guidance to advisors.</li><li>Provide strategic advice on taxes, retirement planning, investments, and educational planning aligned with clients' financial goals.</li><li>Cover the full consulting scope: annuities, brokerage, advisory, alternatives, trust, cash management, IRAs, education savings plans, and retirement plans. </li></ul><p><strong>Collaboration & Innovation</strong></p><ul><li>Work across departments to align with organizational goals by contributing to high-impact projects and serving as a liaison for various regions, product areas, and market segment teams.</li><li>Bring fresh ideas by combining product knowledge, sales strategy, and technology to continuously improve how we support advisors.</li><li>Contribute insights from your advisor interactions to help improve products, sales processes, and support strategy over time.</li></ul><p><strong>Continuous Learning</strong></p><ul><li>Stay current on product enhancements, the competitive landscape, regulatory and policy changes, and financial planning best practices.</li></ul> Qualifications <p><strong>Must-Haves</strong></p><ul><li>Bachelor's degree in business, finance, marketing, or a related field</li><li>Minimum 6 years of experience in a financial services environment with in-depth understanding of financial products and financial planning</li><li>FINRA Series 7 license (active)</li><li>Proven ability to consult on complex financial topics and confidently propose effective, needs-based solutions</li><li>Strong presentation skills, comfortable delivering clear, engaging content to audiences of all sizes and levels</li><li>Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and influence others toward action</li></ul><p><strong>Nice-to-Haves</strong></p><ul><li>Advanced degree (MBA, MS, or similar)</li><li>CFP, CLU, ChFC, CFA, RICP, or other relevant designations</li><li>Previous experience as a Northwestern Mutual financial representative</li><li>Knowledge of qualified retirement plan regulations, from plan selection and implementation to investment strategies and employee education</li><li>Experience leading large-scale projects or cross-divisional liaison responsibilities</li><li>Strong working knowledge of current retail investment industry trends and the competitive landscape </li></ul> What You Can Expect <ul><li>A collaborative, high-performing team of deep subject matter experts who are passionate about advisor success</li><li>High visibility: you'll be a recognized voice on investment product strategy within the organization</li><li>Ongoing development through exposure to complex case work, cross-functional projects, and evolving product lines</li><li>The opportunity to directly shape how Northwestern Mutual supports its advisors and their clients</li></ul>This position has been classified as a Registered Representative under NMIS guidelines and requires fingerprinting.Series 6 - FINRA, SIE - FINRA<p><strong>Compensation Range:</strong></p><p>Pay Range - Start:</p>$89,360.00<p>Pay Range - End:</p>$134,040.00<p><strong>Geographic Specific Pay Structure:</strong></p><p>Structure 110:</p> <p>Structure 115:</p> <p><em>We believe in fairness and transparency.
